Zachary Joseph Jessup

Apr 14, 1995 — Oct 31, 2026

Zachary "Zac" Joseph Jessup, 31, passed away on October 31, 2026, in McKenney, Virginia. Born in Dinwiddie, Virginia, Zac spent much of his life surrounded by family and friends who loved him dearly. He also spent a great deal of time living in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a place that became another chapter in his life.

Zac proudly served in the United States Navy for one year. He was an incredibly intelligent individual with a deep love for learning, history, literature, and the arts. A true historian and bookworm, he could often be found with a novel in hand or exploring an art museum before his accident. He had a remarkable knowledge of history and politics, and there was rarely anyone who could keep up with him in a political conversation. His intelligence, passion for knowledge, and ability to hold a conversation about nearly anything were just a few of the qualities that made him so unforgettable.

His love for the arts began at an early age. During high school, he was a member of the Thespian Society, where he explored his passion for theater and performing arts. He carried that appreciation for creativity, culture, and expression throughout his life.

Ten years ago, Zac faced a life-changing challenge when he became paralyzed. Despite the hardships and obstacles that followed, his journey was one that will never be forgotten. Now, he has found the freedom to walk again, no longer held back by the physical limitations he endured for so many years.

One of Zac's greatest companions was his beloved dog, Hancock, who passed away a couple of years ago. Zac missed him dearly, and there is something especially comforting in knowing that the two of them are now reunited in heaven, together once again.

Zac passed away on Halloween, October 31st, fittingly on his favorite holiday. A day he loved so much will forever hold a different meaning for those who loved him. His memory will live on through the stories shared, the conversations remembered, and the countless lives he touched.

He is survived by his loving parents, Ricky and Julie Jessup; his brothers, Sam Hogue and Nathan Jessup; his sister, Meghan Jessup; his niece, Elizabeth Barricks; his nephews, Carter Barricks and Kameron Manigault; his aunt, Ronda Keeler; his uncle, David Hare; and his grandmother, Dixie Jessup.

Zac was one of a kind. His intelligence, love for the arts, endless curiosity, and unmistakable personality made him someone who could never be replaced. Though his time here has come to an end, the memories he leaves behind will remain with his family and friends forever.

Loved by many and forgotten by none.
