William Zimmerman

William "Bill" Zimmerman, 60, of Sutherland, VA, died August 18, 2025. Bill was born in Niagara Falls, New York, and moved to Richmond, Virginia, when he was in middle school, where he met the love of his life, his wife, Louisa "Lisa" Atkins Zimmerman, when they were teenage neighbors. They married 39 years ago and built their family and home in Chester, VA. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather "DeDe", son, brother, and employee of 40 years at Dupont/Celanese in Enon, VA. Bill was the definition of a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was best known to his four grandchildren as DeDe. He loved to spend time at home on Lake Chesdin entertaining, boating, and fishing with his family. His happiest times were spent with them on the lake, at the beach, never passing a yard sale, and running his local auction service that he recently named "DeDe's Auction" in memory of his beloved father, who passed earlier this year. Second only to his loved ones, Bill cherished the beautiful, serene setting and wildlife that he and Lisa found at their home in Sutherland, VA.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Frank Zimmerman. In addition to his wife, Lisa Zimmerman, he is survived by his sons, Marc Zimmerman and his wife, Erin and Craig Zimmerman and his wife, Kaylin; daughter, Nicole Gill and her husband, Aaron; four grandchildren, Eli and Gavin Zimmerman, Daniel and Claire Gill; his mother, Donna Hahn; sister, Lynne Jennings and her husband, Tad; brother, Andy Hahn and his wife, Karen; many nieces and nephews; and close extended family, Beth Atkins and Roger Atkins and his wife, Tami.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m., on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bermuda Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southside Wildlife Habitat, 5112 Lennie Rd, McKenney, VA.
