William Joseph Sawyer

William Joseph Sawyer, 63, of Dinwiddie County, VA, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024. Born in Neptune, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary Sawyer; and was also preceded in death by a grandson, Austin Sawyer; and one great-granddaughter, Brynleigh Smith. Mr. Sawyer had worked for the City of Colonial Heights as a Supervisor in the Utilities Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and mowing his lawn. He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Mary L. Sawyer; six children, Robert Sawyer (Tiffany), Gary Sawyer (Gretel), Michael Sawyer (Melissa), Brittany Vargo (Guy), Valerie Knapp, and Kaylee Panna (Michael); thirteen grandchildren, Richard, Robbie, Haley, Dustin, J.J., Kyndal, Andrea, Whitney, Abby, Allison, Taylor, Savannah, and Dawson; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous siblings, nieces, and nephews. All services will be private. The family is being served by the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
