William "Bill" Boyd Rickman, 77, of Hopewell, died peacefully on December 26, 2025, following a brief battle with cancer. Mr. Rickman was born in Hopewell, and was the son of the late Billie Boyd Rickman and Eleanor Carty Rickman. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Carolyn Vivas Rickman; daughters, Stephanie Rickman Harris (Walter), and Crystal Page Rackley (Harrison); son, Troy Dale Rackley (Annette); brothers, Gregory Allen Rickman (Valorie), and Leslie Brian Rickman (Darlene); sisters, Ameila R. Hess (Bruce), and Janet F. Rickman; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
In his early days he was the owner and operator of two local businesses, "Bahubbas" and the "Top Hat Dance Hall," in Hopewell. He later pursued a real estate career with Cuddihy Real Estate, and with Ford Agency of Hopewell. Later, along with his wife, he owned and operated the Hopewell Quick Lunch for approximately 20 years. He was well known locally as "The Hot Dog Man". Being an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer, he was a member of Ducks Unlimited, and past president of the Torsten E. Peterson chapter of the Wild Turkey Federation. He was a lifetime member of Moose Lodge 1472 in Hopewell and he was co-partner of Cobb's and Sunken Island, LLC. His love for the outdoors followed him throughout his whole life.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Appomattox Cemetery. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
