William Ragsdale

William Ragsdale Sr., 93, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents Albert W. and Fannie Giles Ragsdale. Mr. Ragsdale is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Helen Deal Ragsdale; two sons, William Ragsdale Jr., Dane W. Ragsdale and his wife, Anne; three grandchildren, Michelle Sommardahl and her husband David, William Preston Ragsdale and his wife Jennifer, Charles D. Ragsdale; four great-grandchildren, Hallie, Grayson, Anna and Ellie Sommardahl and other family and friends.
Mr. Ragsdale retired from the U.S. Navy in 1959, where he served his country proudly in WWII and was a Pearl Harbor survivor on board the U.S.S. Utah. After retiring from the Navy, he went to work for the Firestone Plant in Hopewell where he retired as a power house supervisor after numerous years of service. A graveside service will be held 1:30 PM on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Southlawn Memorial Park in Prince George, VA.
