William A. Moody, known to all as Moody, passed away on August 10, 2026. Born in 1929 in Prince George, VA, he was the son of the late Oscar and Lettie Moody. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Ethel Moody. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

Moody played professional baseball for Hopewell in the 1940s and '50s before being drafted into the U.S. Army. After serving his country, he returned to the Prince George area and spent many years as a farmer. In addition to being a farmer, Moody was an expert gardener, planting fruits and vegetables alongside his wife. He was a dedicated member of the VFW and the Hopewell Moose Lodge. Moody was an avid hunter and fisher, and he always enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox play the game he loved to play growing up.

A graveside service for Moody will be held at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00am.
