Emblem

William Gary Gay, 78, of Prince George, Virginia, passed peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on July 30, 2025. He was born and raised in Petersburg, Virginia, by his late parents, James Edward Gay and Sarah Elizabeth Harrison. For 10 years, he proudly served in the Navy as Boiler Technician Second Class. After returning home, he worked at Firestone Boilerhouse for 7 years and then spent another 27 years before finally retiring at Park 500. He was proud of his work but even more proud of his family. He was married to his wife for 58 years. Their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Julien Gay, Robert "Bobby" Gay, Peggy Faulkner, Emma "Pug" Davis; and great-nieces, Brittany Bailey and Jennifer Bailey.

He is survived by the love of his life, Patricia Gay; his siblings, James "Jimmie" Gay, Jr. (Connie) and Ricky Gay (Red); his children, Pamela Tiller and William "Ed" Gay (Christie); his grandchildren, Holly Harris, Victoria Hankins (Zachary), Austin Gay, and Misti Gay (Caleb); his great-grandchildren, Aurora Harris, Billy Harris, Orrin Hankins, and Violet Moody; his great-niece, Stephanie Moiczek (Matt); and great-great-niece, Sophia Moiczek. This short list alone does not fully encompass the amount of loved ones he left behind. A simple Family Night will be held at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. We ask that you dress casually and/or wear Burgundy and Gold in his honor.
