William Bragg Cabaniss, age 86, of Chesterfield County, Virginia died Monday, February 21, 2011 at home. He was born in Petersburg on January 31, 1925, the youngest son of the late Johnsey Lee Cabaniss and Marigold Edwards Cabaniss. William was preceded in death by four brothers, Albert, Gordon, Claiborne and Gerald. He is survivied by his wife of 60 years, Alice Davis Cabaniss, daughter, Patricia Cabaniss Davis, son-in-law, Lewis â??Bookieâ? Davis, granddaughter, Wendy Renee Davis, sister-in-law, Celia Davis Barnes of Haymarket, Va. and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. As a pharmacistâ??s mate 3rd class, attached to the Marine Corps, he served in the Philippines and on Okinawa. He retired from Allied Chemical (Honeywell) in 1990. William enjoyed spending time with his family, caring for his pets, working in the yard and feeding the birds. The family will receive friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Thursday, February 24, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, February 25, 2011 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bobby Lane of First Christian Church, officiating.
