Wanda Jean Mills Starke, 68, of Prince George County, Virginia, was chosen by God to come home on September 13, 2011. She had a long, courageous and well fought battle. Jean was born in Marion County, Kentucky on November 8, 1942. She was the daughter of the late James Sylvester Mills and Mary Mills Griffieth, and was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence W. â??Mickeyâ? Starke; and her son, Jimmy Peavler. Wanda is survived by daughter, Wanda Carol Corn and husband, Rickey Allen Corn of Prince George; grandson, Timothy Dale Poole and fiancée, Katherine Kendall of Chester; sisters, Louvenia Allen and husband, BC of Stanford, Ky, Charlene Bodner and husband, Connie of Waynesburg, Ky, and Marilyn Kay Huggins and husband, Don of Chester; brothers, Danny Dale Mills and wife, Bev of Surprise, Az, James Wayne Mills of Hustonville, Ky, and Stanley Ray Mills and wife, Janet of Prince George; ex-husband and still dear friend, Gary Schulz of Richmond, Va; stepfather, Roy Griffieth of Chester, Va.; half-brothers and sisters, Angela Stamper, Janet Barron, Glenda Mills, Andy Mills, and Scott Mills of Ky; several nieces and nephews; and her much loved canine companion, Trooper. Wanda was a member of the Church of Christ in Hopewell. She worked at Allied Signal Corporationâ??s B-Plant in Chester and retired in 1991 after 25 years of service. The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service, conducted by Mural Worthey, will take place in the funeral home chapel on Friday, September 16, at 11 a.m., with interment afterward in the Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. A reception is planned for friends and family at the Church of Christ in Hopewell following the service. Condolences to the family may be registered online at www.jtmorriss.com .
