Walter Hamlin Brown III

July 16, 1941 — June 10, 2025

Walter Hamlin Brown III, 83, of Petersburg, Virginia, passed away June 10, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Hamlin Brown, Jr. and Nan Seward Jones; his wife of 56 years, Myrna Bailey Brown; and two brothers, Phillip Seward Brown and Richard Scott Brown.

"B" graduated with a bachelor's degree from North Carolina State University. He was the owner of Midas Muffler Franchise and later owned Brownies Muffler & Brakes.

"B" was a member of the Country Club of Petersburg and was the president of the Tri-City Road Runners. He also volunteered his time at Blandford Cemetery and St. Marks United Methodist Church, as well as numerous areas in the community, including Bollingbrook Day School. Walter enjoyed running, civil war relic hunting, and going to his condo in Outer Banks.

Walter was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his two children, Walter Hamlin Brown IV and Suzanna Brown King (Robin Keith King); and grandchildren, Robert Reid Brown, Tucker Lewis Brown, Aubrey Scott King, and Peyton Hamlin King.

A memorial service will be held at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 225 Claremont St, Petersburg, VA 23805, on July 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
