Victor Grizzard

Victor Beaton Grizzard, husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away, Friday, February 3, 2012. He was born in Boykins on October 22, 1917, the son of the late Eugene Hinton Grizzard and Edna Gardner Grizzard.
Victor was a life deacon of Boykins Baptist Church, 60year veteran of Boykins Masonic Lodge #287, World War II Veteran, longtime member of Boykins Lions Club and retired from Southland Life Insurance Company after 26 years of service.
Left to cherish his precious memory are his wife of 61 years, Edith Bryant Grizzard; two daughters, Cynthia Grizzard Turner and husband Harrell of Branchville, Betty Grizzard Mann and husband, Michael of Boykins; five grandchildren, Mark Brandon Turner and wife, Kelly Wild Turner, Ryan Dean Turner and wife, Heather Genevieve Turner, Josh Turner, Maggie Ashley Mann, Molly Katelyn Mann and Michael Cole Mann; two step great-grandchildren, Matthew and Riley. Victor was preceded in death by his brother, Hinton Eugene Grizzard and sister, Edna Wilcox Lassister. His surviving sisters, Margaret Wilcox Wilroy, Francis Grizzard Forehand and sister-in-law, Adell Morgan Grizzard.
A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 11:00am on Monday, February 6, 2012 at Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday evening in the Boykins Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Boykins Baptist Church, P.O. Box 316, Boykins, VA 23827 or to Boykins Masonic Lodge No. 287 in care of Dwight D. Hazard, 22373 Medicine Springs Rd., Courtland, VA 23827. The family is being served by the Wakefield Chapel of J.T.
