Vickie Denson Harris, age 64, passed away on May 7, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born February 22, 1951 in Petersburg, VA; the daughter of Ruth Sherer Fry and the late James Edward Denson. Vickie graduated from Hopewell High School in 1968. She then attended Ferrum College and graduated from John Tyler Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Business. She moved to Jacksonville in March of 1992 from Hopewell, VA. She was a member of First Baptist Church Jacksonville, Republican Woman’s Club of Duval Federated and the Red Hat Society. Vickie is preceded in death by her father, James Edward Denson Sr.; and brother, James Edward Denson Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Charles Daniel Harris; daughters, Ruthie Harris Ratcliffe (Keith) of Glen Burnie, MD, and Mary Harris Norton (Bruce) of Warner Robins, GA; mother, Ruth Sherer Fry (John) of Hopewell, VA; sister, Sandra Denson Kazebeer (Jack) of Chester, VA; grandchildren, Jordan Richardson (Steven), Meaghan, Evan, Zachary and Anna; great-grandchild, Nolan; aunts, Kathleen Sherer Moss of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lottie Pierce of Colonial Heights, VA, and Frances White Denson of Chesterfield, VA; great-aunts, Francis Browder Treaster of Hopewell, VA and Alice Browder Walker of Maryland; three sisters-in-law, Diane, Becky, and Annette of Peters Creek, NC; and lots of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Saturday May 16, 2015 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, VA. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 23 in First Baptist Church Jacksonville Ortega Campus 4865 Roosevelt Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32210.
