Vera Virginia Tomko, 97, of Prince George, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Vanko; and was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Daniel Victor Tomko, Sr.; and by her son-in-law, Richard Talbott.
Mrs. Tomko was a graduate of Hopewell High School and of Richmond Business School. She was also a member of Bethlehem Congregational Church, where she was a part of the Willing Workers and held a variety of positions. She was also a member of Prince George Emergency Crew Auxiliary and 4-H Leader. Vera was an accomplished seamstress, excellent cook, and community servant. She dearly loved her family and was a friend to many.
She is survived by her children, Evelyn Virginia Talbott, Mary Ann Preskar (Robert), Dorothy Elizabeth Hines (Jerry), and Daniel Victor Tomko, Jr. (Vicki); six grandchildren, Charles C. Talbott (Sarah), Victoria L. Wright (Pete), Jeffery A. Preskar, Rebecca A. Felty (Morgan), Brianna L. Tomko, and Michelle Preskar; and six great-grandchildren, Mikey, Cody, and Charlie Wright, Jacob and Cullen Felty, and Francis Rowe; and several nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank our personal caregivers and the staff of Petersburg Home for Ladies for their care of and kindness to our Mom.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with a service to follow at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Congregational Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Petersburg Home for Ladies.
