Vaughnie “Bonnie” A. Godfrey, 82, of Prince George, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013. Born on September 24, 1930 in Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Shirley Workman Harmon; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Morrison Godfrey, Jr.; a son, John Paul Smith, Sr.; a sister, Joyce McCormick; and two brothers, Lewis and James Harmon. Bonnie was the owner and operator of Bonnie Burger for 24 years which was located at 9410 Jefferson Davis Highway, and was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church, in Petersburg. She is survived by her four sons, Jake Smith and wife, Cathy, Charles Smith and wife, Phyllis, Vaughn Smith and David Smith and wife, Cindy; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Janice McNealy, Mary Jane Wood, Alice Klagg, and Sandra Syrus; two brothers, Harold and Roy Duffy Harmon; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 29 at the funeral home, with Pastor Arthur Lands, officiating. Interment will be private.
