Tracy Kendell “Chief” Christopher, 72, of Dinwiddie, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013. The son of the late R.G. & Isabell Campbell Christopher, he loved his birth state of Oklahoma and was proud to be of Choctaw descent. “Chief” was a U. S. Army veteran and a retired employee of Honeywell. He spent much of his time outdoors hunting and fishing, but also enjoyed reading, watching westerns, and working crossword puzzles. In addition, he was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. “Chief” was preceded in death by his siblings, Loran Christopher, Ida Bland, Bricey Christopher, Evelyn Jane Kelton, Edna Fonzell Newsom, Donnie Floyd Christopher and Retha Christopher, and a brother-in-law to whom he was especially close, Bill Bland. He is survived by his wife, Anna Traylor Christopher; son, Tracy Kendell Christopher, Jr. and wife, Lisa; daughters, Susan Christopher Miller and husband, Brad, and Mary Anna Christopher; grandchildren, Kendall Brock Christopher, Katie Elizabeth Christopher, Thomas Lake “Hucky” Miller, Noah Christopher George, and Caleb Foster George; special nieces, Joyce McCarty of Oklahoma, Lois Garrett of Texas, and Debra Schwartz of New Mexico; sisters-in-law, Mary Lynn Johnson and Nancy Arp and husband, Larry, who was a special friend, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Dinwiddie Health & Rehabilitation for their kindness and excellent care. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10th at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with The Reverend David Holbert officiating, assisted by Pastor Hugh Mayes.
