Timothy Steven Dotson, 72, of Chesterfield, Virginia, died August 19, 2025, at Johnston Willis Hospital. Born in Fort Lee, Virginia, and raised in Hopewell, Virginia. He was a graduate of Hopewell High School and Richard Bland College.

Tim served in the United States Air Force, but then pursued his true passion of cooking as owner of Captain's Cove Restaurant in Hopewell. He later returned to his first calling as manager of food service for the VA, until his retirement in 2015.

In his spare time, Tim loved to be with his wife, Donna and their fur babies. You could often find them on his boat as he was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed cheering on the Redskins and regularly sporting his team's colors.

Tim's faith was strong, and he regularly was found reading the Bible, but always came back to his favorite verse in Psalm 23.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Norma Dotson; brother-in-law, William "Rocky" Runner; and great-nephew, Nathan Gray.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Donna; his sister, Glenda D. Runner, of North Prince George; nephew, Ros Runner, of Richmond; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patty and John Singer, of Wilkes Barre, PA; nephew, Patrick Singer and wife, Rhian, of Spring Brook, PA; niece, Tricia Gray and husband, Jeff, of Wilkes Barre, PA; plus numerous great-nephews and nieces, and an extended family that he loved deeply.

The memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with the Reverend Brad Davis, of Kingsport, TN officiating.
