On January 31, 1955, God blessed us with a very special gift, Thomas Franklin Carraway, and on August 3, 2013 He called him home. Born in Hopewell, VA he was the son of the late James O. Carraway, Sr. and Frances Nugent Carraway. He participated in the Area 16 Colonial Heights Special Olympics and bowling league. He was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Sunday School class and was also an honorary member of the James River Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. He is survived by a sister, Brenda Carraway Mager (Dave); two brothers, James “Butch” Carraway, Jr.(Elisa), and Edward Brock Carraway (Frances); a nephew, James “Tripp” Carraway, III (Suzanna); two nieces, Julia Carraway Newsome (Kenny) and Kendall Ann Carraway; an aunt, Mollie Lee Archer; special friends, Betty and Jim Gerardi and his Good Neighbor Family; and more friends than we could ever name. Tommy touched many lives and was loved by all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Calvary’s Love Ministries, Hopewell, VA, with Pastor Rocky Shearin, officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA.
