Thomas "Tommy" Dale Bobbitt

Feb 28, 1968 — Jul 21, 2026

In loving memory of Thomas "Tommy" Dale Bobbitt, a devoted husband, father, stepfather, and friend, who passed away on July 21, 2026, at the age of 58. Born in Clifton Forge, Virginia, on February 28, 1968, to Joseph Bobbitt and Shirley Hanson Bobbitt, Tommy grew up in the hills of the Appalachian Mountains throughout Virginia and West Virginia, and he carried those early lessons of love, compassion, and resilience throughout his life.

Over the years, he built a life centered on family and hard work. He spent his life working with his hands-turning wrenches, as a talented Auto Body technician and mechanic, and finding quiet satisfaction in making things run the way they were supposed to. To him, a vehicle wasn't just metal and wires; it was a puzzle to be solved and a way to care for the people around him. Whether he was under the hood late into the evening or helping a friend in need, his calloused hands and steady patience were a gift to us all.

He found joy in the simple things like building Lego models and spending quality time with his son, Heath, a quiet movie night at home with wife, Amy, a Sunday afternoon at home grilling and watching football especially his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and his yearly family beach vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina where he loved to surf fish.

Tommy leaves behind his loving wife, Amy Bobbitt; son who he adored, Heath Bobbitt; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Amber and Lukas Whiteside; Aunt Ann Williams; Uncle-Brothers, Rick Hanson (Chrissy) and Mike Hanson (Sharon); Aunt Carol Hanson; and numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Bobbitt; mother, Shirley Hanson Bobbitt; his grandparents, John and Hazel Hanson, and Joe and Mary Bobbitt.

A funeral will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather the night prior from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on August 5, 2026, for a viewing at the funeral home. Interment will follow the funeral at Dale Memorial Park.

His family will carry his memory forward through the lessons, stories, and love he gave so generously.
