Theresa Lynne DeShields

Theresa Lynne DeShields, 61, passed away on August 13, 2026. Born in Petersburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Richard L. Sr. and Catherine R. Thurston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her childhood best friend, Mia Thompson.

Lynne is survived by her devoted husband, Darrell DeShields; children, Christin Owens (Scot) and Cheryl Kelly (Jesse); grandchildren, Hanna Owens, Lily Owens, and Landon Kelly; and siblings, Richard Thurston, Jr. (Carol) and Cathy Robinson.

Lynne was a graduate of Thomas Dale High School and worked for over 30 years as the Executive Secretary for the Division Office of HCA. She enjoyed playing softball in her earlier years, and her passion for sports was passed down to her children. She never hesitated to transport her daughters to and from practices, games, and appointments. Family was everything to Lynne. She will be forever remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, sister, mother and grandmother.

Services for Lynne will be private. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
