Sue Ella Christian Dockery, aged 85, passed away on February 25, 2026. She was surrounded by family at her home in Dinwiddie, VA. Sue was born in Raleigh, West Virginia on February 21, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Elmer and Ollie Christian. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Lendel Wayne "Doc" Dockery; sisters, Rosa Christian and Virginia Weaver; brothers, Tracy Christian, Junior Christian, Harless Christian, Jack Christian, and Lowell "Tommy" Christian; granddaughter, Rebecca McClain; and daughter-in-law, Shelia Dockery.
She was proud of her education and her career with Honeywell where she retired in 2006. Sue was a longtime member of Tabernacle Methodist Church and Pine Grove Baptist Church, among others, where she faithfully attended services and was actively involved in church activities when able. Her faith was the foundation of her life. She lived her beliefs daily through her compassion, steady prayers, and unwavering love for her family. Her love for the Lord was reflected in the kindness and generosity she showed to everyone she met. Sue devoted her life to her family and her Lord.
Sue is survived by her children, L. Wayne Dockery, Jr., Laura Lynn Allen (Cleve), and Cheryl Ann Elder (James); eight grandchildren, Heather Oliver (Matthew), Shannon Mueller, Jessica Mueller, Joshua Elder, Brandon Allen, Justin Allen, David Dufrene (Casey), and Jennifer Littlejohn; ten great-grandchildren, John Oliver, Madison Walls, Ella Bollinger, Faith Elder, Zach Elder, Annabette, Laila Mueller, Hunter Dufrene, Dixie Dufrene, Louis Dufrene, Taylor Ann, Christopher "PeeWee", and Briana; great-great-grandchildren, Temperance and Eli; sister-in-law, Mary Christian; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 6, 2026 at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Rd. S Prince George, VA
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Tabernacle Methodist Church.
The family would also like to thank Crater Community Hospice for the loving care provided.
