Steve D. Edwards

Steve D. Edwards, of Chester, departed this earth to be with his wife, on September 10, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur; sister, Joyce Sutherland; mother, Thelma; and wife, Dora "Cherie," who passed on April 10, 2015.

He was a devoted 52 year employee of the Virginia Department of Transportation, who retired on April 1, 2015. His first 23 years with VDOT were in the Location & Design Division in the Richmond District, surveying for I-64 and I-85, designing numerous roadways including portions of Chippenham and Powhite Parkways, and the later 29 years as an Engineer involving such Programs as Railroad Grade Crossings, Federal Road Hazard Elimination, Neighborhood Traffic Calming, Commercial Entrances, Access Management, Roundabout Design Approvals, and Roadside Safety Improvements on a Statewide basis in the Traffic Engineering Division in Richmond's Central Office.

He thoroughly enjoyed working with his kind and considerate co-workers, playing billiards, relic hunting, feeding wildlife, building miniature houses with his wife and taking care of Cherie until her passing.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park in Chester.
