Stanley V. Rott, 99, of Chesterfield County, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013. Born in Ettrick, he was the son of the late Henry and Filomena Kadlec Rott. Mr. Rott proudly served in the U.S. Army with Co. E, 116th Infantry Regiment. He participated in the first wave of the D-Day invasion on Omaha Beach. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in that battle. Mr. Rott was a lifelong farmer, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry Rott and Charles Rott, and his sister Elizabeth Mary Rott. He is survived by his brother, Benjamin Rott; nephews, Benjamin Rott, Jr. and Phillip Rott; niece, Claire R. Lee; great-niece, Filomena Shepperson; great-nephews, Frederick A. Essig, Farryl Essig, and Forrest Essig, numerous other great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 25th at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Price officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 19600 Halloway Avenue, S.
