Sophie Kreicar Wawner

Sophie Kreicar Wawner, 96, of Colonial Heights, VA, passed away on September 15, 2026, in the Essex House in Tappahannock, VA. Born on October 31, 1929, in Petersburg, VA, to the late Frank Kreicar, Sr. and Agnes Tuma Kreicar, and stepmother, Christine Totisek Kreicar. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester E. "Tosie" Wawner; daughter, Donna Wawner Delozier; brothers, Ernest Kreicar and Walter Kreicar; and sister-in-law, Ethyl Kreicar.

Sophie retired from SunTrust Bank after 35 years of dedicated service. She was a loving sister and mother.

She is survived by her loving caregivers, Linda Ashby and James T. Wawner; two nieces, Sharonne Needre of Williamsburg, and Pam Kreicar of Petersburg; and two nephews, Timmy Kreicar of Petersburg, and Frank Kreicar of Petersburg.

A graveside service for Sophie will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Blandford Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held the night prior, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sophie Wawner's name can be made to the Richmond SPCA.
