Shirley Frye Bishop

August 10, 1935 — November 5, 2013

Shirley Frye Bishop, 78, of Petersburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. Born in Surry County, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Mary Harrison Frye. In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Bishop, Sr.; daughter, Brenda Bishop Bernard; and siblings, Elizabeth Hayes, Linwood Frye, Wilma Soloe, Julia Callis, and Billy Frye. A member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Carson, Mrs. Bishop enjoyed singing in two church choirs and going to gospel shows. She is survived by her children, William Earl Bishop, Jr., Cynthia Bishop Clatterbuck and husband, Lee, and Kenneth Alan Bishop and wife, Helen; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and siblings, Erna Anderson, Fred Frye and Naomi Banty. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9th at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, 18310 Halifax Road, Carson, VA 23830. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
