Sherri Capps Thornton

Sherri Capps Thornton, 42, of Carson, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on April 14, 2025. Born on October 17, 1982, in Hopewell, Virginia, she was the beloved daughter of Frank and Frances Capps, and a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her loving husband of 14 years, Jason Thornton; and their three sons, Connor, Hudson, and Knox Thornton, who were the center of her world. Additionally, she is survived by her mother and father, Frank and Frances Capps; brother, Jim Price, of Hopewell, Virginia; her sisters, Pam Gibson (Art Gibson) and Dawn Wooten (Chuck Wooten); as well as several nieces and nephews who adored her.

Sherri's life was defined by love, generosity, and a joyful spirit that uplifted everyone around her. She never met a stranger - her warmth and sincerity drew people in and made them feel instantly at ease. Whether offering a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or simply her radiant smile, Sherri had a gift for making others feel seen, valued, and loved.

Sherri's devotion to her family was unmatched; she poured her heart into her role as a mother, creating a home full of love, laughter, and unwavering support. She was a treasured presence in the lives of her extended family and a loyal friend to many.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Sherri's life will be held at 1:00 pm, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Destination Church. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends for a visitation from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.

Sherri's legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
