Sheila S. Bratton, of Prince George, Virginia, was called to her heavenly home on May 1, 2025. Sheila was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend to many. Sheila was a beacon of love and kindness, whose warmth and compassion touched the lives of everyone she met. Born on March 27, 1943, in Front Royal, Virginia, Sheila was known for her vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to her family.
She was married to the love of her life, Donald Bratton, and they would enjoy many trips and excursions with family and friends.
Sheila spent 30 years working for the Department of Social Services and made many lasting friendships along the way.
Sheila's pride and joy was being a Mimi to all of her grandchildren and loved supporting them in all of their adventures.
Whether it was through her thoughtful gestures, her infectious laughter, or her comforting presence, Sheila left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
In addition to her family and friends, Sheila adored her beloved dog Babygirl and she became her companion over the years.
Sheila is preceded in passing by her loving husband of 43 years, Donald Bratton; her sister, Wanda Ruffner; and brothers, Danny Smith And Denny Smith.
Sheila is survived by her loving children, Lisa Nunery, Duane Lowman (Patricia), and step-daughter, Kimberly Smith (Kenny); her grandchildren, Evan Nunery, Monica Lowman, Hannah Lowman, Tyler Scott (Kristina), and Savannah Hall (Tyler); and her great-grandchildren, Alex Fisher and Lucas Hall. She is also survived by her dear siblings, Sandra Frazier (Sonny), Bobbi Dellinger (Randy), and Melissa Smith (Rick).
A celebration of Sheila's life will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 11:00am, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00am. Interment to follow the service at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the SPCA of Petersburg and Hopewell, or to any local animal shelter, a cause that was close to Sheila's heart.
