Sarah Fitzgerald Haskins

Haskins, Sarah Fitzgerald, 94, of Richmond, Virginia passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 5th, 2013. She was preceded in death by her mother and father: Robert R. Haskins (Big Daddy) and Sallie Z. Haskins (Mama Sallie); her brothers Porterfield and Bobby—her sisters, Esther, Ruth, and Emily. She is survived by her sister, Anne Jeanette Tucker and her husband, Tommy, and their children—by her two sons, Gordon Perkinson and his wife, Christine, and Ron Perkinson and his wife, Angela—her grandchildren Mary Kathryn, Page, Ruth, Robert, Nyshie and Shane; her niece, Sally Leslie and her husband Gordon and her sister-in-law, Janet Haskins, as well as four great grandchildren: Chad, Kyle, Amika and Riya. Born in McKenney, Virginia, she graduated from Sunnyside McKenney High School and attended Mary Washington College before becoming a payroll clerk at Virginia Commonwealth University. Sue Perkinson, her former daughter-in-law, was a special “angel” and caretaker for her in the last three plus years she was here. Sarah, known as “Amma,” was a great friend to many of the tenants and employees of Monroe Park Towers in Richmond where she lived for many years. She was a devoted member of the former Pace Memorial United Methodist Church and then Skipwith United Methodist Church. Her legacy is her incredible penchant for catch-phrases and positivity. She touched many people’s lives and hearts with her good nature and her goodwill. For this, she will be missed. Funeral Service to be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9th at the chapel of J.T.
