Sandra A. Eickmeyer, 67, of Hopewell, VA, passed away on October 9, 2026. Born in Menominee, MI, she was the daughter of the late Otto II and Elzena Eickmeyer. She is survived by her loving spouse, Susan Shockley; children, Travis Walker (Bridgette) and Joshua Walker (Danielle); grandchildren, Hayden Walker, Kyle Walker, Lincoln Walker, and Ellowyn Walker; siblings, Otto Richard Eickmeyer (Deb), Debbie Jean Eickmeyer, and Merrily Bertrand (Mike); nieces and nephew, Sara-Lynn Hickam (Mike), Amy Benson, Robert "Boo" Eickmeyer, and Kimberly Eickmeyer; and her great-nieces and nephew, Mattie-Lynn Metschke, Lilly Eickmeyer, and Bryson Benson.

Sandra had a special connection with her pets and will be greeted by those who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge: Jasmon, Reba, Mitzi, and Maui, among many others. She is survived by her beloved pet, Honey. She joked that she liked her four-legged companions better than people!

Sandra graduated from Menominee High School before attending Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI. She enlisted in the United States Navy and served her country faithfully, traveling across the country before settling in Hopewell, VA. Sandra enjoyed a 30-year career with the National Park Service as a preservation specialist. She cared for the grounds and historical structures at City Point Unit of Petersburg National Battlefield Park. She loved her time at City Point and cherished the wildlife and nature she was surrounded by every day.

Shortly after retirement, Sandra was diagnosed with lung cancer. She fought with all her might to keep living and enjoying every day of her life. Sandra will be deeply missed by all who loved her, and her memory can be felt with every eagle you see flying high and free above the waters of the Appomattox and the James.

A Celebration of Life for Sandra will be held at the American Legion, 217 E City Point Road, Hopewell, VA 23860, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T.
