Ruby Foster Whitley, 94, of Hopewell, Va. passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015. Born in Wilmington, N. C. she was the daughter of the late, Capas Foster and Amy Ludwig Foster and was preceded in death by her husband, Joel William Whitley, 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Ruby was a longtime member of Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God where she was considered a pillar of the church. She retired from Mark’s clothing store as a seamstress, loved doing handwork like crocheting, and knitting, enjoyed cooking, always known as someone to help anyone in need, loved spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Mrs. Sidney Langston, J. David Whitley and his wife, Betty, Michael Whitley and his wife, Connie, Cathy Hackett and her husband, Jim; grandchildren, Terri Robinson, Traci Hackley and her husband, Glenn, Amanda Jean Elgin and her husband, Jamie, Amy Elisabeth Taylor and her husband, Ryan, Laura Johnson and her husband, Brent, Marcus Hackett; great-grandchildren, Alia, Erica, Jackie, Taylor, Savannah, RayGen, Elisabeth, Nathan, Cody, Jacob; 6 great-great grandchildren; and other extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God, 112 S. 12th Avenue, Hopewell, Va. 23860. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery.
