Ruth Mabbitt Bonner, a devoted educator, leader, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026.
Raised in Glendora, California, Ruth dedicated her life to education and service. She attended California State University, Los Angeles, where she began her journey toward a meaningful career shaping young minds. Ruth served as both a teacher and later as Principal of Saint Joseph School, where she became a pillar of the community. She was especially proud of her leadership in 2008, when she successfully led the effort to save Saint Joseph School from closure - an accomplishment that left a lasting impact on generations of students and families.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Bonner, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Dana Nierenberg and David Bonner. Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Robert, and Sean (children of Dana), and Collin and Meredith (children of David), all of whom were a constant source of pride and joy.
In her younger years, Ruth embraced a spirit of adventure, traveling the world and creating memories that reflected her curiosity and love of life. She will be remembered for her strength, dedication, warmth, and the deep care she showed to her family and community.
A Memorial Service will be held on April 27, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Saint Joseph Church. Interment at Saint Joseph Cemetery will immediately follow.
Ruth Bonner's life was one of purpose, compassion, and enduring impact. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
