Rodney Dale Perkinson, Sr., 67, returned peacefully to his heavenly father on September 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Rodney was born on August 26, 1958, in Colonial Heights, VA, to his loving parents, Bubba and Carrie Perkinson. He married his high school sweetheart, Debbie Perkinson, to whom he has been married to for 45 years.
Rodney worked tirelessly as a welder for Honeywell for over 27 years. Here he made many great friends who quickly became like family. These friendships continued past his retirement in 2012. Rodney devoted his life to his family. He was happiest surrounded by the ones he loved, cruising the James River on his boat, or relaxing on the beaches of Nags Head. Rodney was always willing to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement to anyone who may need it. These selfless and caring ways were so graciously instilled in his children and grandchildren to carry out his legacy. Rodney was a faithful Christian and departed this world knowing his savior Jesus Christ, his heavenly father, and many cherished family members and friends waiting to embrace him.
Rodney is preceded in death by his father, Orbie Keeler Perkinson; his mother, Carrie Leigh Perkinson; and his brother, Randolph Eugene Story. Rodney is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Perkinson; his two children, Dale Perkinson (Melanee) and Brittany Perkinson (Scott); as well as his six grandchildren, Brileigh, Christopher, Jacob, Bubba, Kamryn, and Jerry; and many other family members. The family would like to give special thanks to Cathy Kite, his sister-in-law, for providing an abundance of love, care and comfort throughout his life, but most importantly his courageous battle with cancer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, and we will share information once it is finalized.
