Robert Edward Poarch, Sr., 75, of Dinwiddie, VA passed on May 16, 2026. Born and raised in Matoaca, VA, he was the son of the late Modie Edward and Ollie Mae Stogner Poarch.
He retired as a machine operator after 44 years at Brenco. Robert volunteered for over 40 years with the Matoaca and Dinwiddie Volunteer Fire Department as well as Dinwiddie Volunteer Rescue Squad and Auxiliary Deputy. Robert was a member of Old Hickory Hunt Club. He loved nothing more than hunting, fishing, and visiting all the neighbors on his UTV for their daily gossip sessions.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Charlotte Andrews and Linda Vaughan.
Robert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Lewis Poarch; daughters, Barbara Poarch Stone (Michael), of Darvills, and Jennifer Poarch Drake (Parry), of Surry; son, Robert Edward Poarch, Jr. (Angela), of Dinwiddie; five grandchildren, Cayla Wilson, of Harrisonburg, Aaron Stone (Sarah), of McKenney, Christopher Wilson, of Surry, Noah Stone (Carolyn), of Lynchburg, and Bryson Poarch, of Dinwiddie; one great-grandson; Parker Stone, of McKenney; sister, Sandra Griffin, of Chesterfield; and brother-in-law; Billy Lewis, of Dinwiddie.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Concord United Methodist Church, 16703 Walkers Mill Rd, Stony Creek, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Concord United Methodist Church.
