Robert "Bob" Phillips, 89, joined his wife Nancy in heaven on August 31, 2026. In addition to his loving wife of 50 years, he is also preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Pride.

Bob is survived by his children, Cindy Hill (Mark) and Robert "Lee" Phillips; grandchildren, Ryan Phillips (Erin), Shannon McDorman (Greg), Brandon Hill (Aly), Emily Miller, Joey Pride (Laynie), and Dustin Pride; great-grandchildren, Henry Hill, Oliver McDorman, and Birdie Phillips; and brother, Harold "Hal" Phillips.

Bob dedicated his life to serving his family, his community, and his country. He retired from the United States Air Force at the rank of Master Sergeant after a 40-year career in active duty and civil service. In the early '60s, while stationed in Watertown, NY, Bob was the starting catcher for the Air Force softball team. The team went on to participate in the Softball World Series in part because of his enthusiasm for the game and his dedication to his comrades. His passion for sports continued throughout his life, as he enjoyed watching baseball games and NASCAR. He made lifelong friends with his fellow Airmen, often traveling with his wife Nancy to spend time with them and share memories.

Bob was a talented woodworker and lent his craft to Habitat for Humanity and Sycamore United Methodist Church missionary work following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Later in life, he enjoyed volunteering at John Randolph Hospital. He was always a friendly face willing to help his fellow man. He will be fondly remembered by his family as a dedicated and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

A funeral service for Bob will be held at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 11:00am. The procession will begin at Amelia promptly at 11:00am.
