Robert Wayne Parker

September 10, 1944 — August 11, 2025

Robert Wayne Parker, 80, of Dinwiddie County, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Edna Parker.

Robert grew up in Walnut Hill, and graduated from Petersburg High School in 1962. He then ran track at Campbell College in North Carolina and often hitchhiked back and forth during school breaks. Robert then joined the US Navy where he served on the USS Enterprise. After his service, he worked for, and later retired from, the City of Petersburg Sheriff's Office. Throughout his life, Robert enjoyed weekends on his boat with family and friends at Lake Chesdin, playing golf and tennis at Battlefield Park Swim Club, his annual dove hunt poker weekend with the guys, dances at the Hopewell Moose Lodge, dinners with friends at Petersburg Country Club along with Peterburg Old Geezers Organazation "POGO" events, and most of all his many vacations to Myrtle Beach. He loved beach music! He was a pretty slick dancer and you could always find him shagging to live bands at any beach music festival or event. He was quite the goofball as well. Whether he was wearing a silly mask while driving on Daytona Beach, or dressing up as Danny Zuko from Grease for a high school reunion, he always had fun.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Neely Parker O'Keefe, and Natasha "Tish" Parker Wu (Stan); six grandchildren, AJ Robertson, Cheyenne Robertson, Christian Robertson, Jett O'Keefe, JJ O'Keefe, and Declan O'Keefe; two great-granchildren, CJ and Caylani Robertson; brother, Charlie Parker (Sandie); nephews, Dan and Joe Parker and their families; as well as a host of good friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Southlawn Memorial Park.
