Richard Carl Dickey, 77, of Petersburg passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at his residence. Born in Daytona Beach, Florida, he was the son of the Herbert Yon Dickey and Margaret Ruth Dickey. He was the grandson of Ora Ralph Appenzellar and Emma Need Appenzellar of Holly Hill, Florida. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years, Jacqulyn Margaret Dickey, née Strickland. He is survived by their children, William Dickey and wife Tracy of Boca Raton, Florida, Jeffrey Dickey and wife Barbara of Prince George, Virginia, Richard Wayne Dickey and wife Teresa of Chesterfield, Virginia and Melissa Herman and husband Robbie of Chesterfield, Virginia. Their grandchildren include Margaret Dickey, Jordan Dickey, Jacob Dickey, Julia Dickey, Courtney Dickey, Thomas Dickey, Marshall Dickey, Joseph Dickey, Justin Dickey, and Toby Gusti.
Mr. Dickey was for many years the proprietor of Walnut Hill Cleaners, now operated by his son Jeffrey Dickey. In retirement, he completed several missions as a lay evangelist to the people of the Philippines.
A memorial service will be held at 7 pm on Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with the Reverend Dr. Charles Beckett officiating.
