Phyllis Ann Andrews Rudzin, 77, was reunited with the love of her life and entered into the gates of Heaven, Sunday, January 4, 2026, while at her home in Crawford, MS. She was a loving wife, mother, Grammy, friend, and a follower of Christ. She was born November 3, 1948, in Petersburg, VA, to the late George and Margaret Andrews. Phyllis grew up in Petersburg and resided in the area until moving to the Florida Keys with her husband, John Rudzin, to pursue his dream of being a charter boat captain. She served as an administrative assistant for both Florida Fish and Wildlife and the Florida State Park Service, and retired in 2015. She was a devoted caregiver to her husband who was diagnosed with prostate cancer and passed in 2013. She resided in Florida until 2021, when she moved to Mississippi to be with her daughter, Johna. During that time she was blessed with a granddog ("Huck") and two grandbabies who became her world. One of her favorite past times was playing fetch with Huck. She loved when her grandson, Corbin would come to visit her to listen to songs or ride around outside on his bike or 4-wheeler, and she would spoil him with his favorite treats. She showed pictures of her grandchildren to every person who crossed her path. God granted her the ability to overcome numerous accidents and health battles over the last 10 years to be with her family and she fought with everything in her. She was a true testament of strength, resilience, kindness, and Christ's love to everyone she knew. She loved her husband, daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren with everything in her. She also loved her family and friends in Virginia that knew her as "Ms. Philly" and the sweet friendships she developed in her Sunday School class. In addition to spending time with family, she enjoyed fishing, getting her nails done, eating oysters on the half shell, maple glazed donuts, and a cold Coors Light.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John "J.R." Rudzin; parents, George Andrews and Margaret Andrews Andrews; and aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides.
She is survived by her daughter, Johna Schwing; and son-in-law, Michael Schwing; her grandchildren, Corbin Schwing and Elizabeth Schwing; her best bud and granddog, Huck; as well as her sister and brothers-in-law, cousins, niece, and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am-11:00am, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A service will be held following the visitation, at 11:00am, with her cousin, Pastor Philip Andrews officiating. Interment will follow at Andrews and Aters Cemetery, in Chesterfield County, VA.
