Peggy Davis Vivas

Peggy Davis Vivas, 93, of Chester, VA passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026. Born in Hopewell, VA, she was the daughter of the late Willie Horton and Agnes Pesek Davis; and was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Philip M. Vivas, Sr.; her daughter, Deborah V. Nelson; a son-in-law, Patrick L. Cypher; granddaughter, Jennifer L. Cypher; and two siblings, William "Skeeter" Davis and Sharon Brieling.

Mrs. Vivas was a woman of devout faith and was always putting others before herself. She was a life long member of Cawson Street Church of Christ in Hopewell, VA and had retired after many dedicated years of serving her community as a nurse at John Randolph Hospital. After retiring, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and traveling with her sister and her niece, Donna. Mrs. Vivas will be remembered by her family as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She is survived by her two children, Philip M. Vivas, Jr. (Joanne) and Elizabeth "E-Beth" V. Turner (Steve); nine grandchildren, Wade Vaughan, Elizabeth Cypher, Patrick "Cy" Cypher, Ashley Turner, Brittany Nelson, Philip Vivas III, Kathryn Turner, Paige Christopher and Matthew Turner; seventeen great-grandchildren; her sister, Margaret D. Woodlief; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Peggy D. Vivas.
