Peggy Ann Schmidt

Peggy Ann Schmidt, 95, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2026 surrounded by her loving family and her most favorite companions, Bruce Lee and Clyde.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Wilhelmine Cunningham; and was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Karl Schmidt.

With a heart as pure as gold, and a love that knew no bounds, she devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, and Memaw. She was our greatest cheerleader, always believing in us, finding the good in every situation, and seeing the best in everyone. Her greatest joy was her family, and her greatest gift was the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her beautiful spirit and the love she poured into others will forever be her legacy.

Mrs. Schmidt enjoyed singing, bowling, playing piano, crafting, and spending time with her family which consisted of five generations.

She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Thompson; five grandchildren, Kristina Brekke, Angela Brooks (Bubba), Karl Lee Brekke (Stacey), Joseph Karpinksi, and Morgan Karpinski; thirteen great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Joey, Blake (Jordan), Billy, Katie (Tyler), Dillon, Nicholas, Ethan, Taylor, Nadia, Kelsey, Gabby and Little Joe; and seven great great-grandchildren, Landon and Miles Johnson, Addison and Gatlin Mingloski, Blakeleigh and Gracelynn King, and Leon Miller.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
