Peggy L. Kagels, age 90, of South Chesterfield, Virginia, died on Saturday, May 10, 2025. She was a native of Hopewell, Virginia, and a daughter of the late Susie Ola and Millard I. Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Green, Wesley Orth, and Earl Kagels; a son, Robbie Orth; a brother, Irvin Lewis; a sister, Betty; and a great-grandson, Shaun.
Peggy was retired from the U.S. Government as a Civil Servant after 32 years of service. She was an active member of Wood's United Methodist Church, having held several positions, including a member of the Bur-Ka class and the United Methodist women. She was also active in the American Legion Auxiliary Post 284 in Colonial Heights, Virginia, and served as Chaplain for almost 20 years. She loved to bowl and held several offices in the league of which she was a member.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Lovin; son, Allan Green; granddaughter, Donna Knight (Jeff); great-grandson, Cameron; stepdaughter, Alice Campbell; and a very special "adopted" daughter, Rhonda Heineman (Steve).
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 5:00PM until 7:00 PM, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Wood's United Methodist Church, 7200 Hickory Road, S. Chesterfield, with Reverend David Moorefield and Chaplain Pat Gibson presiding. Interment will be held at Bermuda Memorial Park.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Wood's United Methodist Church or the American Legion Auxiliary.
