Marian (Peggy) Parker Easley Burton died Monday at her home in Dinwiddie County. She was born November 10, 1924, the daughter of the late Hiram Eugene and Fannie Parker Easley. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Ambler Hill Burton, and her brother, Thomas Lester Easley.
Mrs. Burton was born in Leaksville, North Carolina, and she graduated from Leaksville High School in 1943. After that, she enrolled in the nursing school at Lewis Gale Hospital, where she obtained a registered nursing degree in 1946. She was a full-time nurse at Lewis Gale until she married Mr. Burton in 1951 and moved to northern Virginia and then Dinwiddie County.
After her children were grown up, Mrs. Burton was for many years a nurse with the Dinwiddie County public schools. She was an active and devoted member of Crawford United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Burton is survived by a daughter, Martha Ann Burton, and her friend, Dennis K. Morris; son Richard Hill Burton and his partner, Michael Randolph Shebelskie; son John Steven Burton; grandson, William Briggs Burton; and many friends, including particularly special friends, Elizabeth Major, Frankie Jane Arthur and Ella Mae Fisher.
A memorial service for Mrs. Burton will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 6, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
