Norman Arleigh Slate, Jr.

Norman Arleigh, Slate, Jr., 78, of Chester, VA, died March 29, 2026. Born and raised in Petersburg, VA, he was the son of the late Norman Arleigh Slate, Sr. and Isabelle Goode Slate; and was also preceded in death by his son, Norman Slate III; and daughter, Amanda Watts.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon Slate; his son, Thomas Slate; his daughter, Katherine Barnett (Paul Barnett); his grandchildren, Justin Slate, Brandon Watts, Joshua Slate, Kelsey Watts, Brady Slate, and Branson Barnett; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Blandford Cemetery, 319 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23803, on S. Wood Avenue.
