It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nora C. Harry, who departed this life on August 2, 2025, at the age of 74.
Nora lived a life marked by service, resilience, and strength that left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She was known for her generous spirit, clever quips, and unwavering commitment to her family and community. Nora wore many hats throughout her life as a mother and wife, staying home with her sons during their early years before working in her husband's medical office. During her retirement years, she graciously volunteered at various local charities. She cherished her time attending St. Joseph Catholic Church; however, she particularly enjoyed the meals that she would share with friends after Mass. More than anything, Nora enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, from hosting her annual Christmas cookie decorating day to happily traveling from one activity to the next.
There was one place that always held a piece of Nora's heart and that was the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Nora and her family visited as often as possible with Jeanette's Pier being of significant importance to her. She loved to find a rocking chair on the deck, kick up her feet, and take in the beautiful scenery.
Nora was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Frederick P. Harry, Sr.; her son, Frederick P. Harry, Jr.; her parents, Sherman and Faye Critzer; her siblings, Michael, Charles, Ronald, Christine (Watkins), and Timothy.
She is survived by her son, Nathan (Melissa) Harry; her daughter-in-law, Amber (Fred Jr.'s widow); grandchildren, Jackson, Isaac, Aubrey, and Lena Harry; brothers, Donald (Madeline) and Glen Critzer; sister-in-law, Norma (Michael's widow) Critzer; as well as many beloved extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 151 W. Washington Street, Petersburg, VA, on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 12pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in her memory to the Frederick P. Harry, Jr. Bicentennial Memorial Scholarship Fund at UVA (https://www.givecampus.com/campaigns/32090/donations/new), or to the National Brain Tumor Society (www.braintumor.org).
Nora's presence will be deeply missed, but the love she gave and the lessons she taught will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
