Nona Mae Davis

Nona Mae Chamberlain Davis, 88, of Hopewell, departed this life quietly on Thursday, August 7, 2014, her birthday. She was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Lottie Mae Clapper Chamberlain and was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Gunny Sergeant, Clyde Glynn Davis, USMC, Ret. of Portsmouth, Virginia; son, Paul Edward Davis, Sr.; daughter, Donna Lynn Pentecost. Nona was born in Hinesburg, Vermont on August 7, 1926, and was the eleventh of eleven children. Left to cherish her memory are her remaining children, Janet Ruth Granger and her husband, Robert A. Granger, Jr., Michael Glynn Davis and his wife, Sharon F. Davis, and Barbara Ann Ferrell; eight grandchildren, Paul Jr., Christopher, Nathan, Rachel, Jake, Dylan, Vickie, Raymond; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. at West End Presbyterian Church, 1600 Atlantic Street, Hopewell, Virginia 23860, on Monday, August 11, 2014.
