Nellie Christine Fuller Mayer

Christine Fuller Mayer, 95, of Petersburg, VA, widow of Richard Eugene Mayer, Jr., passed away on Saturday January 16, 2016. Born in Henderson, NC, she was the daughter of the late Robert Francis and Hodgie Powell Fuller. Mrs. Mayer helped run Ashton Dairy in Petersburg until it closed in 1965 and continued to work on the farm for the remainder of her life. She loved living and working on the farm and enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers. She was a longtime member and Sunday school teacher at Smiths Grove United Methodist Church. A devoted mother and grandmother, she was especially interested in the lives of her granddaughter and great-granddaughter. Mrs. Mayer is survived by her son, Michael Mayer and wife, Jill; daughter, Judy Ann Mayer; granddaughter, Tracy Stephens and husband, Everette ; great-granddaughter, Seachelle Summer Stephens; sister, Virginia F. Gupton ; and brother, Gerald Fuller. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20,2016. at Smiths Grove United Methodist Church followed by a graveside funeral service in the church cemetery.
