Nancy McLeod Atwater

Nancy McLeod Atwater, 90, went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2025. She was born to the late Elmo and Dorothy McLeod. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Neil Atwater; and her sister, Gladys "Sweetpea" Selden.
She was a member for many years of Woodlawn Baptist Church, where she was actively involved. She loved her time out in her garden, the time with her bridge club, and her many trips traveling with family and friends. She adored spoiling her grandchildren and going with her family to the beach.
She is survived by her children, Barry Neil, Susan Atwater Marks (Mayes), and Scott Overton Atwater (Victoria); her loving grandchildren, Bryant Marks, Neil Marks (Maryia), Carter Marks, Reese Atwater, Brady Atwater, and Wyatt Atwater.

The family would like to to extend our deepest thanks to the Dunlop House for all of their love and care for mom. Special thanks to Jennifer Garabedian from At Home Hospice and caregivers, Lula Griffin, and Reese Atwater, for all their love and care.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour prior for visitation. Interment will follow at Appotmattox Cemetery afterwards.
