Mitchell Lee Johnson of North Chesterfield, Virginia, passed peacefully in his home on August 8, 2026. Born April 9, 1952, he retired from Dominion Energy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Johnson; brother, William Johnson (Patricia); brother, Larry Cedric Johnson; sisters, Mary Ellen Thompson and Aris Ahumada and her sons, George and Gilbert of North Carolina.

He is survived by his wife, Cornelia "Nia" Johnson; daughter, Nicole Johnson Coats; grandchildren, Claudia Miranda Holtsclaw, Alexandra Frances Hall (Jacob), Christopher Nathaniel Holtsclaw, Matthew Caleb Coats, Ethan Mitchell Coats, and Isaac Cedric Coats; great-grandchildren, Levi Forrest and Sonny Russell Hall of North Carolina; brother, Robert Johnson (Nancy) of Florida; brother, Donald Johnson (Georgia); nephews, Christopher Johnson (Dee Dee), Jay Johnson (Nanny), and Bobby Johnson and family of North Carolina, and Anthony Gilardi of California; nieces, Shelly Towson (John), Cheryl Johnson, and Julie Broxson of Florida, and Gail Bennet and family of California; great-nephews and nieces, Devin Towson of North Dakota, Ian and Michael Towson, Brian Broxson (Julane), and Walker Broxson of Florida, Stone Johnson (partner, Katelin), Yates and Hanna Johnson, Lane and Lauren Welborne of North Carolina, and Emily Magnus of Michigan; great-great-nephews and nieces, Addison and Carter Johnson of North Carolina, Wyatt Broxson (Aubrey) and son Waylon of Florida, Dorothea Magus and Decland Willinger of Michigan, and Tessa Towson of North Dakota; sister-in-law, Claudia Johnson of North Carolina; special friends, Kimberly Andrews, Karen Anderson, Rachel and Wesley Warren of Virginia; and lifelong friend and "chosen brother," Michael Clover of North Carolina.
