Mildred Ann Tatum, 85, of Petersburg, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013. She was the widow of Robert Tatum, Jr. and was preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas and Mary Wells Wilkerson; grandson, Adam V. Tatum; sisters, Myrtle Cameron W. Markert, Kathleen W. Brockwell, and Jessie W. Abernathy. Growing up in Dinwiddie, she graduated from Carson High School as Salutatorian. She attended classes at Richard Bland College of The College of William and Mary where she worked as an Administrative Assistant to the college President James B. McNeer. She loved traveling to historic sites and enjoyed time with her family. She is survived by her son, Robert “Don” Tatum and his wife, Tatiana of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren, Matthew A. Tatum and his wife, Carter of Richmond, VA, and Emily M. Tatum of Richmond, VA; two great-grandchildren, Eli and Miller Tatum of Richmond, VA; brother-in-law, Arthur Abernathy of Dinwiddie, VA; nieces, Constance Moores of Doswell, VA, Deborah Streicker of Richmond, VA, Lynn Rives of Linden, NC, and Sandra Fox of Ford, VA; nephews, Wallace Market of DeWitt, VA, and Gerald “Jerry” Davis of Glen Allen, VA; and a host of great-nephews and nieces. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
