Mildred Harman Graves

Mildred Harman Graves, age 88, of Chester, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026. 

She was born on March 12, 1938, in Occoquan, Virginia, to Arthur and Virginia Harman. Mildred was the beloved wife of William N. Graves, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. He preceded her in death in October 2018. 

She is survived by her sisters, Ann Thomas and Mary Sue Eppard. She was preceded in death by her brother, Lyle Harman, and her sister, Joline Harman. 

Mildred was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by two of her four children, Deborah Graves Bailey and Keith Harman Graves. Her son, Richard William Graves, and daughter, Karen Spencer Graves, preceded her in death. 

She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Sarah Bailey Cook, Jacob Patrick Bailey, Heather Madison Graves, Holly Elizabeth Graves, Daniel Keith Graves, and Hannah Laura Graves. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Beckett Charles Bailey. 

Mildred will be remembered for her warm hospitality and deep devotion to her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 West Hundred Road, Chester, Virginia. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. A brief graveside service will follow immediately afterward. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
