Reverend Michael James Malone, 69, of Petersburg, Virginia, passed peacefully at his home June 30, 2025.
He was born in Hamburg, NY, and moved to Alexandria, VA, and Boulder, CO. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Irene Malone; his brothers, Frank Malone, Jr. and Buddy and David Jackson.
He is survived by his cousins, Lynn Soussou, Lisa Levinson, Bonnie Haughey, Kathy Beadling, Susan Harvey; and a niece, Kathy Jackson. Also, by his many dear friends that helped him throughout the years.
Michael graduated from Nashotah Seminary, Wisconsin, in 1993. He served as a Deacon at the Emmanuel Church in Richmond, then as a priest at St John's Episcopal Church in Petersburg, Virginia. Also, Michael was a Rector of St Mark's Church in Dallas, Texas. He returned to Virginia to be an interim priest at St John's in Warsaw, Virginia, until his retirement.
He was involved in Ministry Programs for addiction recovery, as well as chaplain for the Petersburg Fire Department.
Michael was a gentleman of deep faith with an infectious sense of humor. He was fascinated by the history of the Civil War, as well as his ancestral history of Scotland. He was surrounded by multiple friends, and enjoyed the pipe club, was a collector of many things, especially antique cars.
A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, of Petersburg, Virginia, on August 14, 2025, at 2 pm. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church in Petersburg.
