Mayben Simmons Evans

Mayben Simmons “Cootie” Evans, 87, formerly of Petersburg, widow of Merion C. “Bubba” Evans, died Thursday, May 9, 2013 at her home in McKenney. Born in Prince George County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Franklin and Lena Mae Williams Simmons. She was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church. She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah E. Sharp of Hopewell and Wendy S. Evans of McKenney; foster son, D. Bragg Simmons and wife, Victoria of Chesterfield; grandson, Blake E. Sharp of Hopewell; two sisters, Mary S. Ozmore of Matoaca and Lena S. Rivers and husband, Ed of Chesterfield; brother, Benjamin R. Simmons of Sutherland; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Southlawn Memorial Park with Pastor Jonathan Dundalow and Pastor Robert Livesay officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Western Heights Baptist Church, 24416 Cox Road, Petersburg, VA 23803 or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
